I just finished installing my Macbook pro 2014 screen and it boots to black. It looks like the display is not working at all. I'm not sure if I'm imagining it - I think I smelled something smokey when it first came on. What might have happened and where might the problem be?

Can you explain why you needed to replace the screen and what was the steps you took to find the replacement part.

Thanks for your answer! This is bugging the !&&* out of ms because I don't know where the problem is!
The screen was cracked. It's been needing a replacement for a while now.
The Mac works on an external display. The camera works. Reconnected the old display: doesn't work anymore.
Any ideas?
It could be this or that!
Really need more basic info what is your exact model? Apple has made many different versions. Also need to know what you put in as a replacement.

Can you give us your exact model here. If you can read the serial number on the bottom cover still you can use it to look up your system here: EveryMac - Lookup. Once you find it paste the URL here for us to see.
