camera screen won't turn on

When I turn the camera on it will beep quickly 3-4 times but the screen does not turn on. I have purchased a replacement battery but that did not work. Do you think it may be the screen? I will purchase one but want to get an opinion first. I have already looked at the ifixit page for the vr-350. Thanks for any responses in advance.
