I replaced my screen due to it being broken, touch ID is still working perfectly but i have to restore/update, can i? The guys at the repair store told me that i should not do that but i've read in this forum that someone that also replaced their screen updated without any issues.

It doesn't matter which manufacturer i got my screen replaced by? I've read about error 53 bricking iphones, thats my concern
Error 53 is long gone if you have updated your phone in the past few months.
I've done it...I can't even guess how many times. The last one I did I used the cheapest, worst screen I could to try to get the errors people talk about. No issues at all.
