Will not power up unless SMC reset is done

I'm asking this because I had three abscessed teeth pulled yesterday, on pain medication and thinking is just not all that good today ;=() @danj
I know I know the answer but it's not coming to me.
I replaced a slightly water damaged keyboard on this machine about a year and a half ago. It has run well for the customer ever since. Running 10.11.6.
Was able to all updates.
When machine is shut down it will do nothing: when trying to power up from power button. Just dead, no sounds no lights.
Did an SMC reseat and it starts right up and runs perfectly.
I can't remember right now what this is. Hoping someone can jog my memory.

@mayer - Are you able to hit the power pads to start it up?

This is one of the fun ones ;-{ You'll need to short across one of the pins to ground. Here's the poop: Power pads

Thanks Dan, I better wait till my hands are steadier and I can count before attempting it.
