Touch ID working, intermittent Home Button. Thoughts?

PROBLEM

Touch ID works great! However when I click the home button it will not always work...

If I click and hold down my home button, then move my thumb in a clockwise circle it will work lol Seems really strange but if I do this motion it will respond and return me to the home menu, or sometimes activate Siri

WHAT I'VE TRIED

Have checked so many times that the cable is seated correctly, which it looks to be. The metal grounding tab for the touch ID also looks like it's seated correctly. The nub underneath the home button also looks perfectly fine, makes a nice clicking sound etc The metal back plate of the home button also looks fine, not bent at all. Didn't have this issue previously

Anyone had a similar issue? Any help or thoughts would really help!

I had a client that had this issue. Turns out the home button cable is slightly cut. Not near the plug side, the side where it contacts the finger print sensor and home button.

I believe this happens when the home button adhesive to stop the home button from rotating has gone weak. Causing the flex cable to be easily broken over time.

Did your client's home button sometimes work? If they had the exact same issue then I think I will just order a new button and not waste any more time with it. Thanks gain for the reply :)

Yes, the home button works sometimes, intermittently doesn't. When you replace the home button, the fingerprint sensor functionality will not work as the original home button that came with the phone is linked to the logic board as its touch ID.
