iPad 2 cycles between "searching" and "no service"

iPad 2 3G, cycles between "Searching..." and "No Service"

Things I have tried:

  • Swapped sim card
  • Replaced Sim tray and headphone jack flex
  • Replaced 3G antenna

I want to avoid doing a restore if I can, unless I am given advice that suggests it is the only option. I am not willing to 'just try it,' as most of the time undocumented issues like this are not fixed by restoring the device.

Does it display an imei number under Settings > About Device (Not exactly sure what it's called). If no, the baseband IC chip is most likely damaged.

Hi, thanks for the reply. It shows the IMEI number without any issues, which is fortunate in that sense.
