I can move my curser on my track pad and it clicks but the action of clicking doesn't work due to liquid damage. My laptop is completely dry but I'm wondering if is possible to remove the track pad. I see that I can buy track pads for this model but it isn't in your break down?

Yes you can replace them. Simple repair, did it on my Macbook Pro (2014).
They should be fairly similar in design for all of them to be honest. When I did mine all I had to do was remove the back cover. Take the battery out, then behind the battery I was able to get to the track pad and remove, refit or clean it. Hope this helps.

If you have the older model is a bit different from the Unibody's. Here you'll replace the whole upper case as its removable (the trackpad is part of it).
Follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 17" Models A1151 A1212 A1229 and A1261 Upper Case Replacement.
If you have the Unibody version follow the 15" guide here: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2012 Trackpad Replacement. This guide goes to deep as you don't need to take the logic board out. Start at Step1 and stop at Step3 (disconnecting the battery). Then jump down to Step23 picking it up from there.

I can believe I just managed to do this with your fantastic guide. I used this one:
Dan - does it make sense to just do a full upper case replacement rather than to change out the keyboard an trackpad? I'm in a similar situation. I spilled water on my 17" a1297 (mid 2010) and keyboard stopped working. Trackpad still works but not 100%. Right click intermittently triggers when only left clicking.
I currently have a keyboard plugged in to the USB port from an old iMac I have and aside from the minor trackpad issue above, the machine is working as usual.
So i'm thinking I should just replace the entire upper case, but not 100% sure after reading through a bunch of ifixit posts.
Any insight from you would be greatly appreciated.

@Jason Dinner - If you have the older model follow the guide on the left and replace the full upper plate. If you have the newer Unibody model it will be quite expensive to replace the entire upper case part (follow the guide to the right). You may want to bring it in to a Apple Autherized Service Center as they maybe able to save the case and only replace the keyboard & Trackpad.

I have the Mac book pro 17" early 2011 8,3. I need to replace the track pad because the click makes a sound but doesn't respond on screen only with movement.

It's the last 17" they bought out with the black keyboard.

There is an adjustment for the clicker and you might have a swelled battery which is causing the trackpad from working correctly.
