The flash will not operate on its own
My flash will only open if i pull it open manually it will not open on its own.

If you are having to manually open the flash on your camera it is possible that the flash latch is bent or cracked, or the spring that releases the latch is simply worn due to long term use, To identify the problem you should inspect the flash module area for any obvious damages, If no damages are visible, the solution to this problem could most likely be reached by replacing the spring found within the camera.
