Why does my phone only go on apple logo

I have an iPhone 5s, and and a few months ago my apps started crashing but i thought it was because lack of space, and i can restart it and then it works again. Then just today, a few hours ago one of my apps crashed in middle of me using it and so i went to restart it, once i turned it off I pressed the power button to turn it back on and it only went to the apple logo screen for about 5-20 seconds then it turned off. I have been trying to turn it on but it keeps doing the same thing. It doesn't do anything once it is plugged into my computer or charging. No matter what I do it only goes to the apple logo screen then turns off. I can't update it, restore it or do anything. Is there a way to fix it? Or possibly get my pictures off of it. I have important pictures i can't loose.

Has the phone been drop before? has someone previously worked on? Was the phone purchased new? are you using a original apple charger?

It has been dropped before.It is cracked and during winter it has gotten wet so water may have gone through the cracks. I put it in rice over night whenever any water got on it. The phone is actually kinda new. I got it around November of 2014 and yes I am only using an apple charger for it. No work has been done on it, this is the first thing that has gone wrong with it.

Hi hannah,

So judging from what you said, it seem like the phone is effected by liquid damage. liquid damage can be spontaneous, sometimes the effect doesn't show right away. So in something like this you should bring it to a shop and ask for a free diagnostic. but if you want to open it up and post some picture to see if i can find anything i can do that for you. let me know how it goes. if it helps please choose my answer.

Hannah Dollens, for now I would suggest that start off by turning it off. Do not try to turn it on, to charge or to sync it. This could potentially make a bad situation worse since it could shorten more components on the logic board out. Disassemble your phone by using this guide. Clean your phone with 90%+ (or better) isopropyl alcohol. Use this guide to clean your phone. It was written for a 3G but all the steps are pertinent to your phone as well. Inspect your board for any missing or damaged components. Remove all the EMI shields to clean the board. Once properly cleaned, replace the battery and Lightning connector, then reassemble and re-evaluate. Water damage is the hardest to diagnose and to repair since almost any part can have failed.
