How does one replace glass on a Motorola Maxx XT1080 smartphone?
How does one replace the touchscreen glass only (i.e. without also removing the LCD), on a Motorola Droid (Maxx) XT1080(M) smartphone? Thanks!
Well, that's kinda complicated. First, heat up the LCD assembly to soften the adhesive between the LCD and touch screen. Then wedge a molybdenum wire between the LCD and touch screen, gently pull the wire with both sides, you'll see the touch screen being separated from the LCD bit by bit. If there's too much resistance when pulling, heat up the screen again. Remember to wear gloves to protect your hands being hurt by the molybdenum wire during the separation.
heat and time and be careful there is a high chance of damaging the LCD its better to replace both at the same time because they are held together with loca it is far less risky to use a lcd/digitizer combo im not saying this is the cheep way but its the safer way.
After, the new glass is glued with LOCA, but not all glasses are compatible and it can happen that do not work the capacitive keys.
Has anyone done this?
I have a Droid maxx with broken glass, have a" lost"but found Driod maxx and want too trade glass face,is this possible?? Should I take it too a phone repair shop??I would just trade sim card but found phone turns on but nothing shows on screen therefore I'm thinking on swapping glass...Thoughts??
Heat and time? This response didn't answer the question...just told me what little I already new at the time I posted the question.
Most of what you are looking for in the way of How To is posted here:
Sadly, they refer to other guides (like YouTube) for instructions on how to use LOCA adhesive to attach the glass to the LCD.
And your lucky I pointed you in the right direction. You're kind of a dick.
