apple will not boot / shifts sightly to thr right

When trying to boot an aluminum PowerBook G4,A1106, in the Gray Screen with apple, the apple shifts slightly to the right leaveing a couple of remnants behind.

I either get a Finder / ? or a gray apple turnning to a "circle with line through it"

Is this a "Grafics Chip" problem, and can it be corrected?

The remnants are a sign for a graphics problem - but the finder/? and circle.. problem has nothing to do with that - sounds more like a hard drive/boot problem.

the graphics processor can be reflowed/reballed or replaced (replacing would be the best way to fix it)

try to boot from the setup disk, start the disk utility and try to check/fix the harddrive

I have tryed to re-boot many times / I have even bought and put a new hard drive in.

It will not boot.

I have even held down the C key, but it will not boot.

How do you go about replaceing the graphics processor?

Any more ideas???

Thanks

if the new hard drive is empty the signs are correct, but the gpu problem is a different one - but surely it could prevent the coputer from booting. search ebay with "PowerBook gpu" and you will find someone who does the repair. i(!) would first try to reflow it - but i am not a "normal user" - i have the tools for that and did something like that many times (i repaired cell phones for years and some parts had similar problems)
