LCD problems after falling

Hello,

i have a repair shop in Belgium and last week a customer came in with a Macbook Air mid 2012 11", he left it on the side of his car and when turning his wheels to drive away the Macbook (which was sitting in a bag pack with books around it) got stuck between the wheel. He felt that something was sitting in his way for driving away so he stopped and got out of the car immediately.

So far so good, the macbook still works, the only problem is that the lcd is black, when put in bright light it works properly but as for the rest of the time its black.

When i used another screen from my pc it worked fine and all the programs are working. Just the LCD stays black, now i thought that maybe the LCD was cracked/broken due the impact of the car wheel but as i am reading this it can be the backlight sensor or something that has been broken?

Anyone any ideas?

I would first try another LCD lid panel as its likely the LCD backlight is damaged given what happened. See if you can get one you can return to try out.

If that fails the last two possibilities is the fuse link near the LVDS connector has blown or the backlight driver logic is blown (WLED). But you first need to know you have a good working display.

Sorry for late response

Didn't work with new LCD so probably backlight, customers insurance of the car (found it rather strange but got my money so) came between and was able to get him a new one and pay my costs.

So all good end for that repair
