If your Lenovo IdeaPad 3-14IIL05 laptop does not power on when you press and hold the power button, follow this troubleshooting guide.
Battery Failure
If the battery has failed, it will no longer hold a charge to power the laptop, and a key will give away to this if the laptop does not turn on or the light on the right side of the laptop does not illuminate. This will indicate if the battery is at failure
- Check the charger. Is the light on the charging port on? is the chord connected properly? Replace the charging chord itself.
- The battery may appear swollen, review this guide "What to do with a swollen battery" before you begin the battery replacement process
Keyboard Malfunctions
If your keyboard/power button is faulty, the laptop will not power on/function as expected. Signs of keyboard failure include unresponsive keys, keys typing the wrong characters, or the keyboard not working at all
- Make sure keyboard is clean so the keys don't stick.
- Hold down the FN key, then press Scroll Lock and any other key at the same time. Release all keys when you're done to reset the keyboard
Screen Malfunctions
If there is a screen malfunction you might experience flashing, distortion, color issues, lines, blackouts, or a frozen screen. Try rebooting the system
- Disconnect all cords and devices. Hold the power button for 10 seconds to force a system restart.
Software Errors
If there is a software malfunction you might experience computer bugs, crashes, freezes, incorrect outputs, or slow performance.
- remove laptop shell to inspect laptop for damage. The battery could be swollen if so, complete a hard reset
Follow these steps for a hard reset
- Make sure laptop is on and open
- Take a pin and insert it into hole next to the SD input on the side of the laptop
- Menu should show up. Press system recovery
- Click troubleshoot
- Reset this PC
- Keep my files
