iFixit brings life to an old iPhone and a new family member

We are glad we held on to the older iPhone models when we upgraded, because all of the latest gadgets and toys all need iPhones to pair to. In this case, a new Cozmo robot from Anki that one of our kids got for Christmas. It's a great piece of tech and a lot of fun to learn and play with, except when the iPhone controlling it drains it's battery in five minutes.

I already had the toolkit from a previous repair. The battery arrived in a day, and the battery swap took about 10 minutes.

The hardest part of the process for me was during the reverse process. Popping the connectors off during the opening is very easy, because you just get the pry tool under the side and lift up. It reminds me of using the orange lego tool to get small pieces apart.

On the reverse process putting it all back together, it is a lot trickier to line up the connectors correctly so they pop back together. They are very small, and there is not a lot of room to work in. I used the tweezers from my iFixit tool kit.

Also, I had a flashlight on a flexible mount so I could light up the area as brightly as possible. That was very helpful.
