Getting the glass cover off was difficult. It is not easy to hold the iPhone in one hand, the suction cup in another hand and the plastic prying tool in my third hand. I ended up donning a pair of small, tight rubber gloves, which gave me the necessary friction to hold the phone with one hand while pulling up on the suction cup to release the glass cover. Then, with one edge exposed, I was able to slip the prying tool in. So, if you're having trouble removing the screen glass, put on some small rubber gloves.
