Thermal putty replacement

Check the condition of the thermal putty—it'll be on the heatsink and/or the motherboard.

If any pieces are damaged or dried out, follow the next four steps to remove and replace them.

If you're only replacing the thermal paste, skip to this step.

- | [* icon_note] Note the location, shape, and size of the originals pieces of thermal putty. When replacing them, the pieces of putty need to be the same. |
- | [* black] Use a spudger to ''gently'' scrape up larger pieces of putty, being very careful not to damage anything on the board. |
- | [* black] Use isopropyl alcohol and coffee filters or cotton swabs to clean up ''all'' the thermal putty residue. |
- | [* black] Apply new pieces of ''putty'' (***not*** thermal paste) that are the same size and shape as the originals. |
