The home button cable is attached to both the front and the back of the outer frame with adhesive. Orient the frame so that where the screen would be is facing you. Peel back the black rubber tab covering the wire.

Detach the cable from the frame with a plastic opening tool and let hang.

Flip the phone over and detach the button sensor part of the cable from the frame with a spudger.

Pull the backside cable through the hole when removing the component.
