HP 15-f004dx Keyboard Replacement

This guide will show you how to remove your keyboard. Some reasons you may need to remove your keyboard include replacement and cleaning. To know if you need to replace your keyboard, consult the troubleshooting page here

    • After testing the battery and discovering that it needs to be replaced, you will begin by placing the computer upside-down on a flat surface.

    • Locate a switch in the upper left corner with a lock symbol next to it.

    • Slide the switch to the right until you see an unlocked symbol on the opposite side.

    • There is another switch on the opposite side of the computer with a battery symbol next to it.

    • Slide this switch to the left and the battery should detach from the computer.

    • To completely remove the battery, simply pull the battery away from the computer.

    • Use a plastic opening tool to delicately pry the keyboard from the laptop.

    • Run the opening tool along the top edge so a good portion is lifted from the laptop.

    • Once a large enough portion of the laptop is lifted up, use your hand to finish separating the keyboard from the laptop

    • Lift the laptop and expose the connector.

    • Lift the small black tab of the keyboard ZIF connector, and gently pull the ribbon cable free.
