What does logic board error 2 FAN/4/8: H DD FAN mean?

Hi,

Appreciate knowing what this Error Code means.

I think a fan has been behaving differently and some overheating.

Dust, bugs inside ?

A1144 a bit trying to open I understand.

HDD FAN is the fan nearest the Hard Drive... it is not working. It could be lots of dust or an obstruction, the connector, the cable or the fan. Study the guide and see if you want to attempt a DIY replacement of the fan, get the proper tools (every job is easier when you have the proper tools).

My iMac's EMC No. is 2081. Its a PowerPC.

Is there a part for the PowerPC ?

Or will this do ?

iFixit says the fans are the same. You can contact Customer Support if you want confirmation.
