Should I still try to replace the battery on my own

The battery is no longer holding a charge very long. The hold switch also no longer works. Should I still try to replace the battery on my own. I noticed the instructions to replace the battery state to slid the hold switch on before opening up the iPod.

Thanks!

If you're careful to not turn the iPod on while repairing, it shouldn't be a problem. The hold switch statement is just a safeguard against an iPod turning on when in the midst of a repair.

For whatever it's worth, I definitely recommend replacing the hold switch when replacing the battery! They are right on top of each other, and the most difficult part of the repair is opening the case. Just be very careful with the battery connector on the logic board.

Good luck!

I agree with Ben. I recently tried to replace the battery on that same model and when doing so, I broke that connector. In the instruction it says something about 90 degrees. Forget that statement. Do the other part of that same instruction. Just use the small iPod tool and gently lift straight up. Very slightly, just enough to take the battery connector out. Good Luck.

Thanks guys! Well, I am going to give it shot on my own now. First I will order the tools and battery.
