What can I make out of old iMac aluminum stands?

I've got 8 to 10, 17" and 20" iMac aluminum stands from failed machines and they are really nice looking metal. I'm looking for ideas on what can be done with them or made from them. I haven't tried to bend them (which if brought to a right angle would make a nice mounting bracket). Any wild thoughts?

A cool idea might be to make a shelf. You could take two stands and place them facing each other and then put a thin sheet of glass over them and then put two more stands on top and glass and so on. I don't know how tall it would end up being but I think it would look pretty cool. I at one point had a Cinema HD stand so I mounted a white board on it to write orders and schedules on. I don't know what you would do with 10 white boards, but hey. I have also seen someone who mounted a speaker to each one which looked fantastic with his 27" iMac. There are so many things that can be done.

I thought of the shelf idea but would need to bend the brackets to a right angle to do it. A machine shop could probably do that. The bracket that mounts to the stand can be reversed and cut down to mount speakers but I don't know if I would get vibration issues with it.

Here is the guy that did the speaker stands:

Nice looking, I just wish he had shown the attachments.

Aluminum is a very forgiving metal but it does need to be heated before bending, to prevent it from breaking. You can also join pieces together with either a TIG welder or a MIG welder (with the correct wire & shielding gas).

What you make is only limited by your imagination!
