Video Flickers Intermittently on PS5

I have an issue where there video on my PS5 often flickers. It usually starts out fine, but within fifteen minutes, it’ll be flickering pretty badly. I’ve tried different cables and HD TV with no success. But it only happens when hooked up to an HD TV as it never happens when connected to a cheap 5 inch monitor.

It started happening after a bad thunderstorm. The TV it was connected to wasn’t plugged into a surge protector. The TV was fine, but I suspect there was somehow a surge to the hdmi port(?).

Does anyone have any thoughts on what could be wrong. My first thought was the hdmi port but I’m wondering if it’s not something else since it works fine with the small monitor.

Hi!

I think it's the HDMI port as well. Could also be the HDMI IC...

Hard to say at the moment.

First I would try it on another big screen as well (maybe at friends or family), together with a new HDMI cable, before you open up your PS5.

I should have mentioned that I’ve tried different cables and a different tv as well.

No problem! So, the issue is present on all the TV's? Then I would check the HDMI IC first. In my case, I would just replace it and see how it goes. The problem is, that multiple components can cause this... Unfortunately, soldering is required for this! Please let us know how it goes!
