Use the appropriate tools: a regular or electric screwdriver, and sometimes a wedge to stabilize the door while you work. Unscrew the side screws: Using a screwdriver, loosen the screws that secure the lock to the door.
Remove the lock: Gently pull the lock out until the lock tab is exposed.
Turn or replace the tab: Some locks allow you to turn the tab directly without completely disassembling it.
When removing the lock, insert the screwdriver and the hole, press until the tab pops out, and then rotate the screwdriver as shown in the picture.
