Casio A168WE strap clasp problem – keeps loosening over time

Hi,

I have a Casio A168WE watch that I really love, but I keep running into the same issue: after a few months of use, the metal strap clasp doesn’t close properly anymore. It seems to loosen over time and eventually won’t hold securely, which makes wearing the watch risky.

I’ve even bought several identical models to compare, but the same problem happens every time.

I’d like to know:

  • Can I repair the clasp (tighten it, replace a part, adjust it)?
  • Or do I need to replace the entire strap?
  • Is there a long-term fix to stop this from happening again?

Thanks in advance for your advice

If the clasp opening is falling open or lose, personalty I would start with using a pair of pliers with some tape wrapped on the jaws (to avoid scratches) and lightly adjusting the tab on the inside of the clasp to make sure it is clipping properly, but with this being thin metal it may fatigue and brake. Making replacing it your only option.

there are replacement clasps available for other models, but I can't find one for the A168WE

you may find a similar style strap with an alternative clasp design to be more reliable
