Intermittent touchscreen issue after any minor drop
An interesting (albeit frustrating) issue recently manifested with my Pixel 7 Pro, and I can't seem to find any other reports quite like it via Google. I'm hoping someone on this forum is familiar enough with the hardware under the hood to give me an idea of what might be happening and what, if anything, I can do to mitigate this.
The issue occurs after any minor drop, and it has occurred multiple times now in the same way. After a minor drop (~2 feet w/ case), the screen at first becomes completely non-responsive -- just black. After about a minute, the power button will cause the screen to turn on, but the touchscreen will not work at all. I can force restart the phone at this point using the power + volume up button procedure, and the screen comes back on, but the touchscreen still doesn't work at all. Eventually, after multiple restarts and several minutes to half an hour of waiting, touchscreen functionality will come back, seemingly at random. At first it's hit-or-miss, failing intermittently only to come back just as suddenly. Eventually it goes back to normal -- but another minor impact will start this process over.
What's going on here? It feels like some kind of loose connection perhaps, but is there anything I could check? It seems odd to me that the phone seems to "get better" after a rest period, almost like the drop is resetting something that needs to "heal" before it works again. Obviously, that's not how electronics work, but I can't explain it any other way.
Any insight would be much appreciated!
