Repair information, service guides, and troubleshooting help for refrigerators manufactured by Frigidaire.

My Fridge keeps Rebooting

My Fridge keeps rebooting. I tried a new controler board and it just does not boot with new one. Evaporator fan looks fine compressor works if it does finally boot. I have uploaded a video of the issue.

Once the relay on the controller board clicks it clicks right back off.

I am unable to find any help online with same issue.

Hi @ashleydrigout

Perhaps check if the evaporator fan is OK.

I realize that it tries to start and then stops but was wondering because it is a 4 wire fan if the control needs to get a signal from it that it is operating or not.

I'm thinking that if there is no signal sent from the fan that it is operating then perhaps the control board stops the compressor etc from operating etc as there's no point in doing so if the fan is not working as it is used to blow the cold air throughout the compartments.

Here's the service data sheet for the model, which may help.

If you zoom in on p.2 right side there's a simplified schematic showing the 4 wires from the evap fan to the control board. Not sure but perhaps the FG lead may be the frequency (speed?) wire but if you turn off the power and disconnect the fan you should get some sort of measurement with an Ohmmeter when connecting between the FG lead (and the VS lead as well) and either the earth (common) or power (vcc) lead. You may have to spin the blades as if it is a Hall effect sensor it needs movement to register.

Also check that there's continuity between the 4 wires of the fan and where they connect to the control board.

This is all conjecture of course, but hopefully still of some help even if it only eliminates it as the problem.

If you find the problem and it is a faulty part that needs replacing, here's the parts list that is useful.

Locate the wanted in the list and note the manufacturer's part number that is shown with the part. Search online for the part number only, to find suppliers that suit you best.

Thanks I will try that.

It only spins for a split second before the relay cuts again so I did not think that was long enough for a reading to be read by the controler.

Well I think you are correct, I unplugged the fan and it no longer reboots, I tested for continuity and there is none between all the wires. I am ordering a new fan to see if that fixes it. Thanks.

@ashleydrigout

There should be (or there was as it worked for a second) continuity (albeit a resistance value and not short circuit) between the red and black wires fan wires as these are the two wires connected to the fan motor.

There is continuity between the 4 fan wires and the harness on J7 9-12 vs J7 5-8 but I am new at reading wiring diagrams so that might be right.

I installed a new Fan and same error, Constant power cycles.

But when fan is unplugged it does not powercycle it just give me an op or 0p error on the freezer size.

Thank you soo much for all this help.

Ignore: So I tested both fans (new and old) and the old one does not report rpm.

Ignore: The new one does but I still get the same error. The new fan starts up way slower than the old fan so I tried manually spinning it to have it report but no luck.

New fan not wired correctly and was just using test on same contact points as new one for old. When I tried the old one with different wires it worked just fine.

Hi @tmax34447

What is the full model number of the refrigerator?

If it has a display on the control panel is anything showing on this when the beeping occurs?
