The a7R II (model no. ILCE‑7RM2) is Sony's 2015 revision to their full-frame, mirrorless, interchangeable-lens camera.

Why won’t it turn on?

I sold my a7r II on eBay to a person who bought from me before. It was returned as non-working. The unit worked perfectly before it was sent out. Now after return it is a brick. All screws are in the exact pattern they were in, no damage or evidence of tampering on the outside. I’ve tried multiple batteries and usb cables - there’s no response. Any ideas what inside to look for and what parts may be involved?

Hi @unclevanya

Speculating as to what might have happened considering you said it worked before you sent it and not upon its return is that, either something internal in the camera came loose in transit or if a fuse is blown (see below) the user may have used the wrong value charger (if you didn't supply a charger with it) to charge the battery whilst it was in the camera.

According to the parts list for the camera it uses 2 different rated fuses.

Unfortunately the service manual doesn't show where they're located but I think that they may be on the SY-1058 board (see p.9 for location of the board)

Here's an image showing the location of several fuses on the SY-1058 board. If a fuse has blown, search online for Sony (insert fuse part number) to find suppliers that suit you best.

Guess you won't really know until you open it up and check.

Thanks! I’ll look at how to access that and put it in the todo list.
