The lock button of my iPhone 3G for about a year, but only when I squeezed the upper right corner of the phone (like this).
But now that little trick isn't working anymore, although pressing the button feels the same.
Do I have to replace the whole headphone jack, or could there be an easier solution?

Hi Tryst,
The easiest solution for me would be to first check the lock/home button. In order to do that, I would open the 3G, remove the connectors and the motherboard. This is the way to get access to the button which I would then inspect.
You might need to replace the actual button only and not the cable (or the headphone jack). It could also be that the button itself is still in a good shape but got loose. Besides that, the metal pad between the buttom and the flex cable might have shifted (which can be easily re-fixed).
I don't know about your technical skills, but you might give it a try. Use the manual of a 3G to work yourself forward to the buttom.
