The QiCycle Folding Electric Bike is Xiaomi’s first foray into the world of e-bikes. It has a 250W high-speed motor powered by Panasonic 18650 lithium batteries. The Shimano Nexus 3-speed gear hub in combination with the torque measurement sensor gives you up to 45km bike power on a single charge. It also has a trip computer can connect to your smartphones via their special app and is–of course–foldable.

power disconnecting when hitting a bump

my screen/power goes completely off when riding and hitting a bump. I need to push back a little bit the battery to the front to be able to power on again.

it started some time ago but latelly is so often that I need to do it every time I face any crack or object on the road. Usually a little push on the back side of the battery (red light) is enough to power on again, but after just a minute if the road is bumpy it goes off again.

I suspect is related to connections between controller and battery, and I will tear it down if I need, but I wanted to know if someone is having the same problem.

this is NOT the same as losing assistance, that's another unrelated problem. my screen goes off completely, not just the assistance.

I didn't find anyone complaining about this so please, contact me if you're facing the same issue.

EDIT: I found a video describing a very similar situation

unfortunately the guy just returned the bike, so no real solution for us.

I'm answering my own question as I was able to dismantle the controller and fix the issue.

the problem is that there's a gap of about 3 or 4 milimeters between the socket on the controller and the female part on the battery.

I managed to scrap a little bit of the plastic from the limit of the battery line

I also put a little piece of metal on the affected socket to amplify the contact with the pin

and bent a little bit the affected pin to increase the pressure on the metal part of the socket.
