Alternative Boot options / Opzioni di boot alternative

I have an ASUS Vivobook Flip 14 TP412UA out of warranty with broken screen hinge to which I accidentally connected a USB-C cable that was connected to the power supply some time ago, and since then all the USB ports, card reader and Bluetooth have stopped working (not even Linux can recognize them and they only supply 5V) so I think the USB controller is broken.

So I have no choice but to use it as a NAS home server.

So I wanted to install it:

• an M2 ethernet adapter (A+E) to use PXE boot to replace the M.2 2230 slot for wifi/bluetooth
• a PCIE 4x sata expansion card connected to an M2 adapter (M) on the M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x2 slot instead of the current M.2 SSD SATA (M+B) to connect the SATA disks
  • alternatively an M2 ->SATA adapter

I read on internet that expansion cards often do not support booting from the drives connected to it and then I thought of using PXE boot to boot Linux. So I bought the ethernet adapter, but I discovered that after enabling Network Stack and PXE OpRom Policy in the bios, the bios still does not see the ethernet controller as a bootable device even if the Intel I210 chipset supports PXE.

Before buying the other expansion card I would like to know if you have other ideas or suggestions to avoid throwing away / reselling the laptop components.

Ho ASUS Vivobook Flip 14 TP412UA fuori garanzia con i perni dello schermo rotti a cui per sbaglio ho collegato tempo fa un cavo usb-c che era collegato alla corrente, e da quel momento tutte le porte USB, card reader e bluetooth hanno smesso di funzionare (nemmeno linux riesce a rinoscerle e alimentano 5V e basta) dunque credo che il controller USB sia rotto.
Dunque non mi resta altro che utilizzarlo come home server NAS.

Allora volevo installarlarci:

• un adattatore ethernet da M2 (A+E) per usare il boot PXE per sotituire lo slot M.2 2230 del wifi/bluetooth
• una scheda d'espansione PCIE 4x sata collegata ad un adattatore per M2 (M) sullo slot slot M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0x2 al posto dell'attuale M.2 SSD SATA (M+B) per collegarci i dischi SATA
  • in alternativa un adattatore M2 -> SATA diretto

Ho letto in giro che le schede di espansione spesso non supportano il boot dai dischi connessi a esso e allora ho pensato di utilizzare il PXE boot per fare boot di linux. Dunque ho acquistato l'adattore ethernet, ma ho scoperto che dopo aver abilitato nel bios Network Stack e PXE OpRom Policy il bios non vede comunque il controller ethernet come dispositivo bootabile anche se il chipset Intel I210 supporta PXE.

prima di acquistare l'altra scheda di espansione mi piacerebbe sapere se avete altre idee o suggerimenti per non buttare / rivendere i componenti del portatile.
