Microwave starts working as soon as I open the door

As soon as I open the microwave door, the turntable starts spinning, and the microwaves start coming out of the machine. Then when I put in a plate or cup to heat and close the door, the turntable stops spinning and I can punch in a time When I do that the microwave works fine. When I open the door to take the food out the table spins again. When the door is closed, the microwave does nothing like it’s supposed to. It’s only when I open it up that the turntable spins and it starts generating microwaves and the fan motors work.

NN-ST651B Inverter. It’s at least 21 years old lol

Don't laugh. Being that old means that back then the manufacturer provided a comprehensive service manual unlike today when most don't. ;-)

The troubleshooting guide on p.23 shows that the cause of the problem in your oven i.e. turntable starts when the door is opened, is due to a faulty LV transformer on the power/relay board - see part #E41 on p.33.

If you decide to replace the board below is an image that shows what it looks like and also I've shown the location of the LV transformer and also the part number on the board so that you can verify that it is the same or not as the board in your oven.

If it is the same board search online for F603L9Y10CP to find suppliers that suit you best. (supplier examples only to show part and possible cost).

Be safety aware when working in microwave ovens. The HV capacitor can store >5000V DC for months, even if the power to the oven has been disconnected for this length of time. This amount of voltage can seriously injure you. The HV capacitor needs to be correctly discharged as soon as it can be accessed after the cover has been removed from the oven before commencing any further work in the oven
