Pixel 6 has severe typing lag after repair

My pixel 6 now has severe typing lag after replacement of the screen. Yes, this is with sensitivity set in "screen protector" mode and it's the same with and without a protector installed. I have to type like my grandfather used to do with a hunt-and-peck speed which is substantially slower than i could on my original screen prior to it going dark. Extensive searching has yet to prove fruitful, anyone have any ideas?
