I got a second hand 3DS with a somewhat problematic screen as it has lines or even blacks out in games and home screen but whenever I enter homebrew software that issues goes away. Is it because of the screen's ribbon being faulty or is it the LCD in general? if so should I replace the screen? I put up an image for reference!

so first you want to do is remove the upper lcd, then replace it with a new one
if the problem is still there, clean the top screen zip connecter with some isopropyl alcohol
if its still there, check the top screen ZIF connector. Look it over carefully and make sure there aren't any bent/broken pins or cracked solder joints.
