Hi,
is it possible to just replace the wheel of the digital crown unit without opening the watch? The external thread of the wheel (usually both attached) is still in de crown unit but the wheel itself came lose. What I would like to try is to remove the external thread and replace both the thread and the wheel with a new one. Is there any chance I might be able to do that without opening the watch?

Hey there,
Most likely you will not be able to do it, in order to unscrew the crown button, you need to lock the mechanism from inside, that will allow you to unscrew it, otherways it would unscrew it self while using it.

So I need to open the display in order to do that. What are the consequences? Is it possible to open the display without breaking it? Can I reuse the display after replacing the digital crown? Will the watch still be waterproof as it was before?
About display, as long as you do it well, there should be no problem with display.
You need to remember that display is very fregile and if you decide to do it, you will need to watch some videos on how the process looks like, preferably mutliple videos. Also you need some tools like Y000 screwdriver, display opening tool etc.
About waterproof properties: honestly its spin of a coin, if you use B-700 glue it should be waterproof but i would not give warranty on it. I think even pro-workshops dont give waterproof warrantys for pre-opened watches.
Also, to unscrew the crown button you need tool that will lock the pin inside crown from spinning. You can order such tool or try to make it your self from peace of flat metal (razor blader or such)
