SU-101312-8 ERROR blueray disk drive not detected

Long story short, My ps5's blueray diskdrive quit working. i removed it from the case and put all back together minus the diskdrive and used it as a digital only version. I gave the DD to a friend to look at with hopes of possibly repairing it. the drive was damaged beyond repair by unfortunite circumstances.. the ps5 was working fine without the drive but now it keeps wanting to update and wont complete without the drive detected. My question is ,is it possible to install a different diskdrive with a different daughter board and get this to update even if the drive dont work due to compatibility issues with the original motherboard?
