I had quite a fright when I noticed a video I don’t remember hidden in my phone. I do not have an antivirus installed and I do use a music downloading app which occasionally opens other apps and has many add. Is it possible to have downloaded and stored it without being aware?

@sweetpea222 yes that is absolutely possible. It is also possible that this was downloaded because you may have watched it etc. Remember, nothing is really free. If there is no product to be sold than you are the product. Your personal data becomes a product. My suggestion would be to delete it and make sure that all of your apps have settings where downloads etc. can be turned off.

@oldturkey03 thanks for the response, I’m starting to feel at ease now and have looked into my settings. However I don’t recall watching the video actively. Could it have been embedded somehow in a link I clicked or could it have played unbeknownst to me on another tab?
I also went hunting for a game somewhere around the time it happened and I traversed quite a few sites, downloaded a few things that purported to be the game lane splitter but I wasn’t able to get it.
@sweetpea222 absolutely. It is possible that this was embedded. Anything to make money and to advertise. Most of the time it is not a deeply sinister thing, just the typical trash you collect when you do a lot of browsing etc.
Thanks again @oldturkey03. You’ve helped to put my mind at ease as the video was quite explicit and I was disturbed by it being in my hidden folder. Again, thanks for the answers and i will look into an anti virus for my phone.
