Washer and dryer will not provide any heat.

I’ve been using my washer and dryer for months now but since the last week-ish both my dryer and washer will either not give any warm water from the washer or give any “hot air”/dry the clothes in the dryer. The dryer could be running and spin for hours but clothes would remain cold and damp even when on the highest temperature setting. The washer also won’t use warm water in the cycle, when put on warm or hot temperature the clothes will still be cold. This seemingly came out of no where as I have not tweaked with the washer and dryer at all. Is it wear and tear? An internal issue? Piping? I don’t know much about washer/dryer machines so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

@assistance66802 what are the exact model numbers and what have you checked? Your washer should receive its hot water from the hot water supply line (depends on the make and model of the washer)

@oldturkey03 The model number is 110. 16882500, I haven’t tried anything other than unplugging and replugging the dryer plug to try and fix the damp clothes problem.

Hi @assistance66802

Regarding the washer, as @oldturkey03 stated above, you need to have hot water, coming from your household hot water system to be connected to the washer for the hot wash options to work as there is no heater element in the washer. Check that there is hot water at the faucet that the washer's red hose is connected to.

Regarding the dryer, for it to dry the clothes the dryer needs to have a working 240V AC power supply i.e. 2 x 120V AC supplies. One to power the motor, controls etc and the other to power the heater in the dryer. The dryer will either have a 4 pin plug power cord or a 3 pin plug cord depending on how it is connected.

Check in your household power box for fuses or circuit breakers that should be marked as dryer. There should be 2, but there may only be 1 marked as dryer (depending on how it is wired) as the dryer may be connected to an existing wall power outlet fuse as well so as to have the necessary two power supplies.

If there are two fuses marked dryer, check that both are OK and not blown (if there are circuit breakers and not fuses check if they have tripped - would be in the off position). If there is only 1 marked dryer then check it.

If the fuses are OK it could be a faulty heater, faulty hi-limit thermostat or a faulty thermostat in the dryer

If a fuse has blown (or breaker tripped) you could try repairing the fuse (or resetting the breaker) and then check if the dryer worked OK but if it fails again due to the fuse blowing then there's a reason for this to occur, which would have to be further investigated.
