Screen has faint horizontal white lines. Drivers are updated.

I have tried checking BIOS and the white horizontal lines still appear. Drivers are updated. What do I do?

Hi @fjm19803

Try connecting an external monitor to the laptop's Thunderbolt USB-C port and check the display on it coming from the laptop. You will need a Thunderbolt port adapter e.g. Thunderbolt to DP or Thunderbolt to HDMI etc to connect to most monitors or even a TV. Don't forget to toggle the relevant special function key (5th from the left on the top row) to switch the display from laptop screen only, to external screen only to both on together.

If the external monitor display is OK and as the lines are also seen in BIOS then most likely there a problem with the display assembly.

Here's the maintenance and service guide taken from this support webpage for the model.

Go to p.44 to view the procedure to remove/replace the display assembly. On the top of the page you will find the part numbers for all the displays that are compatible with the laptop model.

Search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

If the external monitor display also has lines then it is a motherboard problem and further testing would be required to find the cause.
