Could this be the blower motor resistor? Might be worth visually inspecting it, I had a similar problem on my Chevy Trailblazer and the connector was visibly melted.

Yes, likely the resistor. I had no 3rd level, it was same as second level. Resistor had a burnt out winding. Easy fix, it lives on the blower housing in engine bay.
Could also be the switch itself, but fan motor speed resistor is most likely. Start there.
It is the HVAC blower motor resistor, (fan speed control board) Which is just a small, flat electronic circuit board. If you google the replacement for the GMC van it will tell you that it is in the passenger footwell, It is not. It is to the side of the blower motor under the hood on the passenger side. Rather easy to get to and replace. $15 on Amazon
