Hi @freddydilogene,

How do you know that there's a problem with the MAF or MAF sensor?

Have you checked the OBDII codes?

If so was it a P0101 or something else?

If you haven't checked the codes, I suggest that you get them checked to see what codes are there as it may be something else that is the cause and not the MAF sensor.

These are the more common problems with a faulty MAF sensor:

The engine is very hard to start or turn over.

The engine stalls shortly after starting.

The engine hesitates or drags while under load or idle.

Hesitation and jerking during acceleration.

The engine hiccups.

Excessively rich or lean idling.

Hi Freddy,

As @jayeff has already stated, we need more information to be able to give you a diagnosis we're confident of.

If you suspect the Mass Air Flow sensor, there's an easy way to test it. Simply unplug it and drive the car. If the stalling goes away with the MAF unplugged, then yeah, it's pretty certain you need a new one. If the engine computer can't get a reading from the MAF, it defaults to preprogrammed settings that will allow the car to be driven but won't give you the optimal fuel economy and power settings achievable with a MAF. With a bad MAF those default settings will run better than the incorrect readings returned by the defective sensor.
