Hi @alexduncan10584,

How do you get it to reconnect after it has disconnected?

Does it only disconnect when you're connected to the same website or any?

Check in Event Viewer for any Critical, Error or Warning events that may be logged at the time the PC disconnects online.

Check in Device Manager > right click LAN network adapter (and WLAN adapter as well) > Properties >power management and check that the option to turn off the device is not enabled

Tithe disconnect is extremely brief it happens to the point windows doesn’t know it’s happening. Hardly shows in a ping test

@alexduncan10584

If it's that brief, how is it affecting online use?

Does it also occur on other devices that are connected to the same Ethernet port (or if WiFi), in the exact same location as the PC? There may be some kind of interference occurring (EMI?) which affects the data signal and the adapter has to re-train the connection between the PC and the modem

さんによる

Call of duty and other game services notice it

Hi @alexduncan10584,

Did they say what setting (or at what end - yours or theirs) they changed?

It seems very strange that changing modem settings would have affected only one device when you tried other devices connected to the same modem and had no problems when playing the games you mentioned, especially when trying both Ethernet (using the same port) and WiFi.

さんによる

@jayeff no they didn't want to say besides changing settings on the modem

Did they say why they changed them?

Here are some possible reasons why your PC keeps randomly disconnecting:

  • Software issue: There could be a problem with your operating system or with a third-party application. Try running a virus scan, or try disabling any unnecessary applications that are running in the background.
  • Interference: There could be something interfering with your wireless signal, such as a microwave oven or a cordless phone. Try moving your router to a different location, or try using a wired connection instead of wireless.
  • Outdated drivers: If your network adapter drivers are outdated, it can cause your computer to randomly disconnect from the internet. You can update your network adapter drivers manually or automatically.

If you've tried all of these troubleshooting steps and your computer is still randomly disconnecting, you may need to contact your ISP or a computer technician for further assistance.

So it turns out it was my ISP. They changed some settings obviously wont tell me. But its fixed now

Have you tried putting in a PCI network card? If your built in network card is faulty, that could solve the problem
