@telmoleal looks like people that have done this are using drives like a Kingspec KSD-PA25.1-032ms Storage capacity of the drive may be an issue and it looks like you can get them on here I cannot vouch for the quality of this part since I never purchased it or from this seller. Just an option for you to look at.

Here is some interesting read as well.

I found that one too and for the price is worth the try. Thank you so much for the help. I'm gonna read that thread carefully.

@telmoleal Once you do the "conversion", come back and let us know how it works and if it was a worthwhile thing to do. I am a strong believer in keeping the "old stuff" working for as long as possible.

I'll keep that in mind. I believe in keeping the old stuff live their entire life too but at the same time I can't help myself when I find a way to improve something. I've picked the ibook g3 for a classic gaming station and a "typewriter". The noise of the hd is an obstacle for this last one

@telmoleal absolutely. Repurposing, fixing and modifying devices to prolong their useability, is what this site is all about. Anybody can buy new stuff and spend tons of money, I am frugal.

Boy, had to dust off my old note pad for its notes.

This system uses the older Ultra PATA interface so it will be hard to find a SSD as not many where made back then and the tech at the time wasn’t as good as today.

This is also not a very fast interface so you won’t gain much over a standard plater HD drive. Here’s the guide to get to it as it’s also not easy! iBook G3 12" Hard Drive Replacement

There's https://www.amazon.com/KingSpec-2-5-inch... that should work. It's worth the try. My goal is to reduce noise and heat. Performance is not a key issue, just a bonus. Having a good time knowing the inside of a two decades old machine is also a plus.
