Replacing Right Shoulder Button

Hello!

I was performing a stick swap to fix a drifting joystick on my switch lite. During that, the exposed rubber for R button ripped off when removing the plastic bumper. I've only ever soldered a couple things, and I'm having issus getting the solder to melt. I've got new buttons, but the repairs I see are all for joycons and they don't seem to have issues with the solder not melting.

Has anyone performed this kind of repair or have any advice to get this button swapped out?

A photo of the broken button is attached.

Any help is greatly, greatly, appreciated.

Thanks!

What solder are you using? Use 60/40 leaded. Also what soldering iron are you using? Add a pic if you can. Also use flux. It helps with the transfer of heat allowing the solder to melt.

Thanks for the reply! I had my soldering iron set too low. I originally found 260° C was a good temperature, but after looking again I saw 360° C was recommended. I changed my iron to 360° C and I was able to melt the solder and get the button off. I had an issue with the through holes, but since they were only there as supports, I was able to remove (tear) the button portion from the support mounts. After that I resoldered a new button the the data pins and supports mounts and everything has been working great for about a week now. If anyone else needs to do this, make sure you resolder the button as close to the board as you can. The space to fit the shoulder button is very tight.

Hello, for the replacement part? Does a joy con part works as well? (The bumper R solder part)
