@molina671169627 it allows you to connect a Zif Device (HDD) directly to your computer as a USB device. For example, you'd use it on your HDD to access it without being connected to the iPod. It'll connect your HDD directly to your computer. You can then use it to backup your drive etc.

@molina671169627 make sure that you get one that comes with a few (most commonly two) different ribbon cables. I believe the Hitachi and Samsung drives have a different connection. Those adapters are definitely a great tool to have.

@molina671169627 yes it is the correct name. What brand is your HDD? Samsung? Toshiba? You are looking for a 40pin adapter
