The Samsung Galaxy A52 Is a Mid-Tier phone released by Samsung on March 17, 2021.

Where is the temperature sensor that stops the phone from charging

When I try to charge my phone, it says it is too cold, even though that's definetly not the case. I checked the sensor with "DevCheck" and it says it's -20°C. In some rare cases, it shows more °C and charges, but most of the time it doesnt.

So I want to replace the part with the broken sensor now and need to know where the sensor is. So...does anyone know?

Thanks in advance!

@milfie besides the excellent answer by my colleague @timtomissus and a change of the battery does not yield the desired result, there are more thermistors

The one for the charing is actually on your daughterboard. Sorry, did not have a great picture of it, but this should give you an idea of the location

If a new battery doesn't work, consider replacing the daughter board.

@oldturkey03 teamwork!

@timtomissus and that is how we will get things accomplished :-)

Hey guys, thanks for your answers. I replaced both of them but unfortunately, it was neither the daughterboard nor the battery. Do you have any other ideas?

さんによる

@milfie just to make sure, you replaced both the battery and the charging port. Still not charging?

Post some good pictures of the main board (both sides) and post those with your question. There might be further thermistors on the board.

According to the block diagram and confirmed by the parts list, it appears there are five thermistors, or temperature sensors, that are connected to the Sub PMIC chip and they're labelled AP_THM, BAT_THM, CHG_THM, PA_THM and WIFI_THM. Haven't been able to find an actual schematic diagram to confirm where those sensors are physically located, though. My best guess is that the BAT_THM and CHG_THM have been covered by replacing the charging port and the battery, but it's not clear where the others are.

well, before you do that

have you spilled liquid on it?

have you tried cleaning the charging port?

also with the little googling i did i found this thread that says you should maybe try replacing the battery, as it could be the batteries' thermal sensor messing up, so i think you'll have to replace your battery

No i did not spill any liquid on it.

I also cleaned the charging port already.

Okay, then I try replacing the battery.

@zweligolowa which one? Which flex cable?

TLDR: It was the Main Flex Cable.

Since this is one of the first site that comes up when googling "Samsung A52s temperature too low" I want to share how I solved the problem. Thanks you everyone who I mention below!

How I solved the problem eventually:

I had the problem suddenly come up after 25 month of using the A52s (and therefore the phone was out of warranty). Phone randomly did not charge with the message "Temperature too low".

Using the App "DevCheck" as suggested by @milfie (Cost: Free) under "Battery" - "Information" the Temperature reading showed random False readings with the charging halting every time the reading fell below 0°C.

Using the iFixit Guide for the similar model A52 I changed the Battery (Cost: 15€ incl. shipping) as suggested by @timtomissus but the problem remained.

Then I changed the "daughter board" aka the "charging port board" (Cost: 15€ incl. shipping) as suggested by @oldturkey03 but the problem still remained.

Finally after a few month of the phone laying around unused I tried replacing the "Main flex cable" (Cost: 8€ incl. shipping) as it was suggested just recently by @zweligolowa in his short but genius reply "It is the flex cable" and this fixed the problem for me immediately.

If I had to do it again, I would do it in the following steps:

  1. Make sure its the same issue by installing DevCheck and checking the temperature readings.
  2. Try replacing the Main flex cable as it its the easiest, cheapest and most resource-saving of suggested repairs.
  3. Try replacing the Battery, as the battery has a limited lifetime and you profit from a fresh battery life.
  4. Try replacing the Charging port board.
  5. Report here for others :)

Best of luck.

Most temp sensors are in the actual battery, you might need to replace the battery which is not a bad idea anyways, fresh new battery is always a good thing.
