Why cant I send or receive texts from certain people?

I changed carriers and upgraded to a iphone 14. My information was transferred to the new phone. The new carrier service was not good. I went back to my old carrier and old Iphone 7. Since doing that I have not been able to send or receive texts from certain numbers. I cannot receive verification codes from banks or other institutions. Can you tell me why this happened and how to fix it?
