Ice Build Up in Inside Bottom of Frost Free Upright Freezer

I have an older Maytag Upright Frost Free Freezer (2005) that is Model AFU1767BW. There is a pool of ice at the bottom of the freezer in the INSIDE. I think I might have a clogged tube. I think that the tube is underneath the unit but it seems to be NOT clogged. How do I access the tube INSIDE the freezer to see if it is clogged there? I hope someone can help. Thank you.

Or just do a full defrost, despite the "frost free" of the name, sometimes you need to defrost. Get an ice chest with ice, leave unplugged 24 hours, use a shop vac, or sponges and then towels after defrost.

@leafybye Thank you. Already have done that twice. Didn't work. I only get ice on the bottom that's why I think it's a clogged tube.

Hi @djbwa

Unscrew the two screws shown in the second image you posted and then remove the panel.

Behind the panel you will find the evaporator unit, evaporator fan, defrost heater and the defrost thermostat.

Underneath the heater (and evap unit) there will be a hole which the drain tube connects to. You can't easily get to the tube itself but you can pour water down the hole and check if all of it gets to the evap pan under the refrigerator.

If the evap unit etc is all iced up and the drain is clear, then there may be a defrost problem.

This could be due to a faulty defrost heater, faulty defrost thermostat or a faulty defrost timer.

Here's the AFU1767BW parts list that may help. If there is a faulty part search online using the part number only to find suppliers that suit you best.

Be safety aware and always disconnect the power to the refrigerator before commencing any work inside the refrigerator

@jayeff I want you to know that your solution worked. There was a plug of something in the tube. I used a homemade snake to clear out the debris. Seems to have solved the problem. I appreciate your help so much. Thanks.
