How to fix steering column after key switch has been broken key will s
Key switch has been broken I think it's the steering volume the key will start it bit will not keep it started
As @oldturkey03 remarked, we can't quite figure out what you're asking.
The ignition switch on your minivan consists of two parts; there's the mechanical part with the lock cylinder that physically turns the other part, the electrical switch that makes the power connection to the electrical system and the starter.
So it sounds like you're saying that you can start the car, but it won't stay running; is that it? In the absence of other information, it's entirely possible, in fact quite likely, that the problem is with the engine and not the ignition switch.
However, assuming you have somehow determined the switch is at fault, it could conceivably be either the mechanical or the electrical part of the switch.
For the mechanical part, it's possible that the retention mechanism that keeps the key in a particular position ("on" in this case) has failed and it's allowing the key to rotate away, shutting off the power to the engine. That's not a failure I've seen, but it's about the only thing I can think of that would explain a mechanical failure with the symptoms you've described. You could test that by physically holding the key in the 'on' position after you start the car; if it continues running until you let go, then you'll need to replace the entire mounting mechanism. It's usually held on with security bolts that have to be drilled off as they're non-removable to prevent theft.
As to the electrical part, the switch could easily have a bad connection that causes the problem you're seeing. That could be in the electrical contacts inside the switch, the wires going to the switch, or the connector that plugs into the switch.
Anyway, to properly diagnose your issue we'll need a lot more information.
What happens when you turn off the key then try to start it again? Does it do the same thing every time?
The more information you can give us, the better we can answer your question, but as it is, we can't give you an answer with what you've given us so far.
