I accidentally removed a capacitor from the PP_CPU_ECORE

I had a short in the PP_VDD_BOOST line due to a shorted capacitor, when I removed it I also removed a good cap from the PP_CPU_ECORE line.

My question is can the phone work without the two capacitors?

Three images attached for better explanation.

Capacitors are often used to “clean up” electrical noise on a particular line. Removing one capacitor on a line with many will likely not have a significant effect on the phone. Generally speaking, it would be better if it’s there. However it’s unlikely it will render the phone non-functional. It could. But both of those lines have a fair number of other capacitors.

If you can replace them safely, then by all means, replace them. But probably not an absolute necessity.

Have you tried to turn the phone on?

Thank you for the response. Yes, i tried to start the phone and it works like it should. I was just worried about long term reliability of the phone.

@Luis Got it. It’s possible it will decrease the longevity of the phone by some margin, but I wouldn’t be concerned about imminent failure. As I said, if you can replace the removed components, then it makes sense to do so if this phone is going back into use (rather than being a repair done for the sake of data recovery).
