I've had a HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-cn1xxx for four years now, and as of 2021, I'd noticed my battery had begun expanding.
If someone could help, I need to know what exact battery to buy so I can replace my old one, and how to even replace it in the first place.
This laptop's battery is annoyingly hard to get a straight answer for, and I've been looking for a long time.

Hi,
Here's the maintenance and service guide for a HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-cn1000 taken from this webpage that will help.
The manual is one that covers the HP ENVY x360 Convertible PC series so I think it will be applicable to your model.
On p.30 it describes the necessary pre-requisite steps and then the procedure to remove/replace the battery.
The battery part number L43267-005, is also shown at the top of the page.
Search online using the part number only to get suppliers that suit you.
The part number should also be printed on the battery in your laptop if you wish to verify.
Another way to find out which battery is installed in your model is to insert the laptop's serial number (found on the information label on the bottom of the laptop) here and you can find the part numbers for all the parts used in your particular model.

Definitely not a competition to be first, as far as I'm concerned.
Usually I don't have the other regular contributors online at the same time because I'm 12 to 15 hours ahead of where they're mostly located, so there's no clash when answering.
If they've already answered, unless they've missed something obvious I don't answer and if there is then it's mostly as a comment in their answer.

hey, not insulting either of you guys for trying to help at all, really, thank you both, but these answers ended up being wrong and the battery I needed was an L03XL.
turns out HP discontinued support for my laoptop and it's parts specicifally literal years ago, so that's fun.
If anyone could suggest a good place to get one of those, that'd be nice since i honestly have no idea what im actually looking for (outside of it being a LK03XL and that the original battery apparently had 4350 MAH to it.)

I did also suggest (and link) looking at the HP Partsufer site using the serial number to verify but never mind. ;-)

Use this link and type in the "product number" of your laptop, (found on info label on the bottom of the laptop) and it will show exactly what battery model number i.e. HP part number, is used.
Search online using that number to find suppliers

Okay, the HP web site's support pages have a service manual available for what I believe is your computer. The title there is "HP ENVY 15-cn1000 x360 Convertible PC", so I believe I have the right one.

The Computer Components section lists the battery as part number L43267-005. A quick search using that part number shows the available on eBay, Amazon, Walmart and several other vendors. Newegg has a genuine HP battery with the correct part number for about $45 USD.
Unfortunately, it doesn't look like there's a guide for your computer here on iFixit, but the HP service guide in chapter 5, Removal and replacement procedures, has the instructions for replacing the battery starting on page 30. I read through it and to be honest it's one of the easiest battery replacements I've seen on a laptop, at least the ones where you have to take off the bottom cover to get to it.
If you can work a screwdriver you should be all set, but you're welcome to come back and ask questions if you run into any issues.
By the way, if indeed your battery has begun swelling, you'll want to replace it sooner rather than later, as in, NOW! iFixit has a Wiki page on the subject that's worth a read.

I have this same issue but I have the HP ENVY x360 Convertible 15-cn0xxx. Do I use the same battery? I found two manuals with my product number - the one refrenced below by @jayeff and another one I found googling. one of the manuals is just for my model (15-cn0xxx) and the one suggested by @jayeff has my model listed, but also has 4 different types of models.
Both manuals suggest different batteries. Which should I choose?
